The California Golden Bears keep their steady rise up the voting ranks through two weeks of football play and a victory over San Diego State. Cal received five votes in the AP poll to be ranked at 39th overall. They also received six votes in the Coaches Poll. Last week they received two in the AP poll and one in the Coaches Poll.

Cal moves up one spot in the AP poll and five spots in the Coaches Poll.

Five Pac-12 teams are currently ranked, led by USC in the top 10 and UCLA looming; Oregon drops just behind UCLA after their loss to Michigan State, and Arizona and Utah are currently placed near the bottom of the top 25. Cal's opponent this week (Texas) currently is not ranked.

Your quick Week 2 bowl projections, because these are very important: Both ESPN and SB Nation have now made Cal a potential bowl team, heading to the Fosters Farms Bowl.
