I only noticed one Cal Bear get hurt during yesterday's win over San Diego State, but it is a big one if it's serious. Cal running back Daniel Lasco went down to the ground early in the 4th quarter and had to leave the field after an injury timeout. He did not return to the game.
Sonny Dykes mentioned after the game that Lasco had a hip injury and he doesn't think it's major, but he has no real concrete details as of this point. Expect a bigger update early in the week.
After a quiet first game and a still quiet first half this week, Lasco ended up with 123 yards on 19 carries against the Aztecs. His health will be critical to pulling off the win in Texas. Although Cal has a capable backup in Vic Enwere, the running backs behind him (Tre Watson, Khalfani Muhammad, Jeffrey Coprich) will probably not be produce the way Lasco can against the top level defensive of the Longhorns. Cal definitely needs Lasco if they want this one.
UPDATE: Sonny Dykes confirmed on his Sunday conference call that Lasco had a muscle strain in his right hip. But he will practice this week and play on Saturday
