Cal football recruiting: Jordan Duncan the first official visitor of the 2016 class

The four-star wide receiver out of Oak Grove High in Mississippi will be the first recruit to take an official visit to Cal.

For those of you who are unaware, Cal has been pursuing a trio of wide receivers out of the state of Mississippi in Jordan Duncan, Dekaylin Metcalf, and AJ Brown. All three have significant interest in Cal, and they will have a shot at Duncan in particular when he takes his official to Berkeley in August.

Even though the Mississippi schools are the favorites among the recruiting analysts, Duncan is academically driven and intrigued by the possibility of suiting up for the Bears in the dynamic Bear Raid offense. Duncan is also friends with Cal commit Traveon Beck and Cal target DJ Morgan. Morgan tweeted praise for Duncan's decision.

Duncan does not have a specific timeline on his college decision, however taking such an early official is a good sign that he is far along in his recruitment. The biggest competition for Duncan's services are both of the Mississippi schools. Peeler has done a magnificent job at ensuring that recruits have good visits, and has worked his magic on both Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Treyjohn Butler, who have come away excited about Cal. Hopefully Cal can snag a commitment from Duncan during his visit so they can silence critics with a four star prospect.
