Gentle Williams, Mississippi offensive tackle, commits to Cal football

Calgang 2016 has grown one larger with the commitment of Gentle Williams, a three-star offensive guard prospect out of Florence, MS.

Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

Another one of Cal's needs has been addressed, as they have secured another commitment from an offensive lineman in Gentle Williams. Cal jumped on the scene early with Williams, as they were the first to offer him all the way back on February 2.

What he brings to the table:

Williams brings much needed versatility to Cal, as he is listed as a guard, but is also able to play offensive tackle and interior defensive line. Williams is shown to be primarily a run-blocker, which indicates that he will spend the majority of his time at guard. However, having players who can jump in wherever it is needed is a nice luxury to have. Williams has yet to garner lots of recognition, in part because of the amount of highly rated recruits coming from the state of Mississippi. However, Williams looks to be a solid prospect who can help anchor the middle of Cal's offensive line for years to come.
