Cal has made what looks like their final coaching addition. Sonny Dykes confirms that Andre Carter will be joining the Cal coaching staff as a graduate assistant. Carter has naturally been working with the defense and primarily the defensive line. Perhaps he can provide another added bump to improved defensive line performance?

Carter just completed a 13 year career in the NFL, with stints with the 49ers (2001-05), Redskins (2006-10), Raiders (2012), and Patriots (2011 & 2013). At Cal, Carter was purely dominant. He won the Morris Trophy as the Pac-10’s top defensive lineman and was a first team All-American in 2000.
Carter is the second former Golden Bear from the NFL who has joined a Sonny Dykes coaching staff. Jahvid Best was a student assistant with the Bears last season.
Here is the official release from Jeff Faraudo of Inside Bay Area:
"Where do you start? He's obviously a heck of a football player, a great NFL player," Dykes said of Carter, who played his first five NFL seasons with the 49ers and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2011. "A great role model for your players and the kind of guy you want to have around your program."
