Cal football recruiting: Alex Akingbulu puts Golden Bears in top 4, will visit for WSU game

Four star offensive tack Alex Alingbulu has put Cal in his top 4. He has already planned to take a visit to the Washington State game.

Cal has long planned to sign many offensive line in the 2016 recruiting, particularly at the tackle position. So far, they've done just that, getting verbal commitments from Daniel Juarez, Jake Curhan, Gentle Williams, and Paco Perez. Now, they have turned their attention towards four star offensive tackle Alex Akingbulu.

Akingbulu, who will play his senior year at Narbonne in Harbor City, CA. As of now, the two favorites seem to be Cal and UCLA, but Akingbulu plans to visit all of his top four schools: Cal, UCLA, Utah, and Michigan. Tennesee has apparently joined the fray as well, and might get a visit, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals.

In Akingbulu, Cal would get a versatile tackle who isn't afraid to get out in front and be the lead blocker. His tape consistently shows him opening up holes for huge gains. One concern, however, is that Akingbulu only weighs 224 lbs. Akingbulu would have to gain some considerable weight to be able to keep up with the larger defensive tackles in the Pac-12. (CORRECTION: Akingbulu weighs around 265-275 according to most recruiting services). He still has his senior year to bulk up, but skill athleticism wise, he is extremely talented.

The Main competition for Akingbulu's services is UCLA, who is just a 40 minute drive away from his hometown. Akingbulu is fond of Cal, and seems to get along especially well with coach Brandon Jones, who has done an exceptional job this recruiting cycle.
