Cameron Goode, Spring (Texas) linebacker, commits to Cal.

Cal snags its 19th commitment as three-star Klein Collins outside linebacker Cameron Goode pledges to the bears.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Cal addressed another one of its needs on Saturday, picking up a commitment from Cameron Goode out of Spring, Texas. Once again, Cal has landed an outside linebacker who looks to have flown under the radar, as the only other major offers he holds are from Boston College, Kansas, and Fresno State.

Other Cal commits were quick to retweet his announcement and offer praise, including Markus Wright, who seems to be one of the future outside linebackers along with Goode.

In Goode, Cal gets a fast edge-rusher, albeit a little bit undersized at 6-3 190 lbs. Although he might not be able to spell Berkeley correctly at the moment, it is something we can work on. Considering Cal runs a 4-3 defensive scheme, Cal will use Goode's speed (4.56 40 yard dash) in different blitz packages since he probably won't be able to gain enough weight to move to the Defensive end position. There isn't a lot of tape of Goode dropping back into pass coverage, but he is able to use his speed to defend against screen plays very well. There are also multiple plays where he times the snap count perfectly to blow up the play in the backfield.
