Cal’s biggest needs in this recruiting class all align to the defensive side of the field. They have a big priority up front to upgrade their defensive line. They need big bodies who can not only hold their own in the trenches, but disrupt and force pressure in the 4-3 front the Bears have deployed since Sonny Dykes arrived in Berkeley. Defensive linemen are the biggest priority for the Bears, considering how secure they are at linebacker. The Bears already have a defensive end in Russell Becker, but they could use some commitments on the interior as well.
Proud to say that I'm committed to the University of California! Can't wait to be a Golden Bear! #CalGang16 pic.twitter.com/1ZbA9JpuHb

They’ve made their first step to finding talent at the line by securing the commitment of Chris Yaghi out of Santa Ana. The Foothill defensive tackle is earned a Cal offer earlier this week, and was quick to pounce on it. Yaghi also has offers from Oregon, Utah, Washington State, Boise State, Air Force, Iowa State, and a host of MWC schools.
Here are the rankings for Yaghi.
- 247Sports: Three stars (83), 79th best defensive tackle, 119th best California prospect
- Scout: Three stars, 47th best defensive tackle
- Rivals: Three stars
And here are the Hudl highlights!
Welcome to Cal, Chris! GO BEARS!
