A few sad decommitments aside, the California Golden Bears are off to their fastest start on the recruiting trail in years. The focus has clearly been on upgrading a secondary in need of improvements, and they are finding the players they need to feel better about their overall depth. The latest commitment comes from Corona (Ca.) out of Centennial, as cornerback Camryn Bynum made his pledge to be a California Golden Bear.

The defensive MVP of  Ground Zero at the 2015 Pylon Elite National 7v7 Championship (and teammate of Cal target Damian Alloway) has been high on Cal for quite some time, and committed to the Bears over schools like Boise State, Boston College, Washington State, and San Diego State. Bynum also had offers from the Ivy Leagues (Dartmouth) and the service academies (Army and Navy). Greg Burns and Jacob Peeler were Bynum's primary recruiters.

Here are the latest rankings from all the services for Bynum.

  • Rivals: 3 stars (5.6), 86th best recruit out of California
  • Scout: 3 stars, 40th best cornerback
  • 247Sports: 3 stars (83), 109th best cornerback and California prospect

Here is his highlight reel from Hudl.

Cal now has Bynum to go along with Traveon Beck and Josh Drayden in their secondary backfield.

Welcome to Cal Camryn! GO BEARS!
