Cal football recruiting: Camilo Eifler puts Bears in top 6

Can Cal land the local prospect?

With Shurod Thompson decommitting, Cal will still be searching for a premium Bay Area recruit. One of the biggest remaining local prospects on the board is Oakland (Ca.) Bishop O'Dowd linebacker Camilo Eifler. Cal didn't need many linebackers the last recruiting cycle, but it's time to start thinking about the next grouping of important heavy hitters. Eifler could be the vanguard for that new wave if he wants to stay in the Bay Area.

Eifler released his top six. Let's take a look at what each team has to offer.

California Golden Bears: Cal is the hometown team and have to feel pretty good about where they stand. His adoptive mother is a professor at Cal, and has connections with players like Hardy Nickerson and De'Zhon Grace.

Oregon Ducks: Oregon only recently offered, but he is intrigued.

Michigan Wolverines: Never underestimate the power of Jim Harbaugh.

Texas A&M Aggies: Not sure what to make of this one. A&M has done a lot of national recruiting and they seem to be honing in on Eifler.

UCLA Bruins: You can never underestimate these recruiting juggernauts. UCLA has been reeling off top-15 classes on a yearly basis and don't expect them to hold off on trying to get Camilo.

Washington Huskies: Washington could be a wildcard favorite here and seems to have a decent amount of leeway thanks to his relationships with coaches and players.
