Cal football recruiting commit: Markus Wright, Georgia linebacker

So this class could be wrapped up by August.

Either the California Golden Bears are absurdly confident in the recruits they're landing early, or there is some early August National Signing Day date we're aiming for. Because I've never remembered this many Cal recruiting commits before the end of June, and if this holds, we're halfway to completing our 2016 class.

Cal has gone back to an old regional favorite in the state of Georgia and landed an under-the-radar defender in Columbus (Ga.) Jordan outside linebacker Markus Wright. The Bears have now landed six recruiting verbals in the span of a week. It's June!

Wright was offered a month ago and made his official decision to become a Golden Bear on Monday night. Wright held offers from all the service academies in Army, Navy and Air Force. Wright becomes the first linebacker commit in the 2015 class, as the Bears look to pad their depth at the deepest defensive position. He's the third Georgia recruit in four years, joining Russell Ude and Trey Cheek.

Here are the Hudl highlights for Wright.

Welcome to Cal Markus! GO BEARS!
