In yet another dramatic finish in front of an impressive crowd of 1,728 fans, Cal baseball scored four runs with two outs in the eighth inning, highlighted by sophomore center fielder Aaron Knapp's two-run triple, to give the Golden Bears an 8-6 victory over No. 6-ranked Arizona State.
Second-ranked Oregon used three multi-run innings to earn a 17-1, five-frame victory over No. 18 Cal.
Cal has been selected to play in the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships as one of 81 teams continuing their seasons at six 54-hole NCAA Regionals across the nation May 14-16.
Omid Jalali of the men's soccer team was awarded a pair of postgraduate scholarships and football's Joey Mahalic received a 30-second standing ovation after an inspiring student-athlete speech Monday at the annual Cal Athletic Honors Luncheon at the Berkeley City Club.
Jalali, the 2014 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was the recipient of the Oscar Geballe Postgraduate Scholarship of $5,000.
