Cal Rugby sweeps Sevens Pool Play, to face Michigan in quarterfinals

Even without cable, you can watch Cal Rugby in action today on NBC at noon PT (3 pm ET). Bears are playing for a chance to 3-peat as the national rugby 7s champions. You can read more about that in my preview here.

Not sure how rugby works? I am sure the broadcast will fill you in. Rugby 7's, the format that will be at the Olympics next year, is a quicker game than the traditional rugby 15s (union). Only 7 players aside play on a full size field with each half just 7 minutes long.

I suspect the TV coverage will also include taped broadcast of the Bears' two earlier matches, Bears open the tournament against Boston College before taking on rugby powerhouse in Notre Dame.
