Inside the Lair: Q&A with Austin Clark

Cal has a familiar face on its football staff this season. Former defensive lineman Austin Clark (2009-14) has returned to the program for the 2015 season as a recruiting assistant after spending six seasons with the Bears as a player. CalBears.com had a chance to discuss Clark's new role with the program.

CalBears.com: How does it feel to be back with the program?
Austin Clark: It feels great. I love this place. This is the place I always wanted to be when I took that next step after I graduated. I'm extremely grateful to Coach Dykes for giving me this opportunity.

CB: What exactly will you be doing in your new role?
AC: I'm a recruiting assistant, and also just lending a helping hand wherever I'm needed.

Check out the Cal Football Notebook as the Golden Bears move past the midway point of spring practice.

"I was pleased," [Cal head coach Sonny] Dykes said. "I thought our play was really physical. I challenged them a little bit that we needed to be more physical after going back and looking at the first six practices, and I thought they really did a good job of coming out and doing what we asked them to do. I thought it was good today."
