First of all, it was a HUGE and long long overdue victory for 4th ranked Cal Women's Water Polo on Saturday when they downed No.1 Stanford 8-7 in the MPSF Semi-final. This is the 1st Cal victory over Stanford since 2000, a span of 40 matches. Yours truly was merely graduating from high school when the last Cal victory over Stanford had occurred.
Viewing Info: The Championship Match will see the Bears take on 2nd ranked UCLA at 2:30 PM PT will be streamed live online on Pac-12 Digital (click here for the link).
Coincidentally, Cal's last MPSF championship came in 2011 when the Bears beat the Bruins.
Back to the historic Cal win over Stanford, the Bears jumped out to a quick start (4-1 lead after the first quarter) but had to hang on late. Sophomore goalie Madeline Trabucco came up big in crunch time for the Bears.
Watch Kelly McKee's second goal that gave Cal an 8-5 advantage Saturday and proved to be the margin of difference. http://t.co/UIVG71SBwu.
