With the weight of the Big Slam on his shoulders - and No. 28 Cal and No. 24 Stanford tied at 3-3 - freshman Billy Griffith fought off Cardinal junior Nolan Paige to win, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4, and hand the Golden Bears the 4-3 victory on Saturday at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Denise Starr clinched No. 4 Cal's eventual 5-2 victory over No. 11 Stanford on Saturday at the Hellman Tennis Complex by upsetting the 18th-ranked Taylor Davidson, 6-3, 6-4, to give the Golden Bears a 4-0 lead.
Sand Volleyball
Cal's No. 4 pair of freshman Mackenzie Feldman and Sammy Furlan won for the fourth time in five matches but the Bears' sand volleyball team dropped a pair of duals Saturday.
