Ivan Rabb down to Cal and Arizona, Golden Bears the favorites, decision Saturday

We're hitting the home stretch.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Bishop O'Dowd big man Ivan Rabb (CGB scouting report) has officially cut his list, and Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA are all out. As expected, it's the California Golden Bears and Arizona Wildcats who are left on the table, and a decision might be coming sooner than later.

Rabb has already tripped to both schools multiple times, and there isn't much left he would probably need to see from either school before he decides to make his final pick. With the State championship this week in Berkeley against Mater Dei and a few All-American tournaments upcoming, expect Rabb to make a decision in the near future.

We've outlined all the reasons ad nauseum as to why Rabb would pick Cal (hometown school, local product, immediate playing time, guaranteed to be the star of the program, connection with head coach Cuonzo Martin) and Arizona (immediate exposure, solid title-contending pedigree, NBA pipeline). But at this hour, it sounds like Cal is in the lead according to multiple sources. And it sounds like a decision is coming soon.

UPDATE: Decision coming tomorrow.

Time to close Cuonzo. Success or failure in 2014-15 depends very much on this decision.
