Cal Football has added homes games against UC Davis (2019) and Cal Poly (2020) to complete the non-conference schedules for those seasons.
UC Davis
The Golden Bears are currently undefeated in nine matchups with the Aggies of UC Davis. The last time the Bears faced the Aggies, Cal routed their UC brethren 52-3. An interesting note: UC Davis's current head coach is former Cal running backs coach Ron Gould. It obviously remains to be seen whether Gould will still be coaching the Aggies in four years.
Davis is a member of the Big Sky Conference, and the Aggies went 2-9 in 2014, with a 1-7 conference record.
The 2019 game will be the season opener on August 31. In addition to UC Davis, Cal will play San Jose State and then make a trip down to Oxford, Miss to face Mississippi on September 21.
Cal Poly
The 2020 game against the Cal Poly will be the first matchup between the Golden Bears and the Mustangs. However, current Cal Poly head coach Tim Walsh has faced the Bears in the past. In 2006, Walsh's Portland State Vikings lost to Cal under Jeff Tedford, 42-16. Walsh led that Portland State Vikings team to a 7-4 overall record, with a 6-2 record in the Big Sky conference. As with Gould and UC Davis, it remains to be seen if Walsh will still be coaching the Mustangs come 2020.
Cal Poly is also a member of the Big Sky Conference, and the Mustangs finished 2014 with a 7-5 overall record, and a 5-3 conference record.
The 2020 game, scheduled for September 12, is bookended by two major matchups against TCU (September 5) and an away game at Auburn on September 19.
