Our Bears didn't have to wait long to find out their NCAA tournament destination - Cal showed up in the 4th game revealed on ESPN's selection show. The best news? Our Bears will be playing basketball in the Berkeley regional!
That means that there will indeed be NCAA tournament games at Haas Pavilion this week. Cal will face the 13 seed Wichita State Shockers at 4:30 PT on Friday.
5 seed Texas and 12 seed Western Kentucky will join the Bears in the East Bay, and should Cal defeat the Shockers, they would face the Texas/W. Kentucky winner. Lurking as a hypothetical Sweet 16 opponent? #1 in the nation UConn. But UConn lost to Stanford, so they're probably not very good at all.
Wichita State went an impressive 30-4, although they only played three games against the RPI top 5, recording one win over Ohio State. But they did give Tennessee all they could handle in Knoxville, so the Shockers are a potential tough out. We'll have much more on Cal's game and the entire region later this week.
