Cal basketball recruiting: Ivan Rabb, Caleb Swanigan, Davon Dillard visits could change program

This is a make or break weekend, no doubt about it.

They're here.

There's no question that this weekend is the most important of Cuonzo Martin's first year at Cal. He currently has no committed recruits for the 2015 class, and while the offers have been sent out to the fallback options, it's clear that his goal is to land three commits this weekend and immediately ensure this program's return to national relevance.

Let's take a look.

Ivan Rabb (scouting report): Rabb has been target number one. The Oakland (Ca.) Bishop O'Dowd big the one to watch and the likeliest to commit. Cal has long been considered one of the biggest favorites along with Arizona, and if anyone commits after this official, it would be Rabb. Rabb is so versatile and skilled and will cover up a lot of the weaknesses the Bears have. If he commits, it's hard not to see Cal returning to the NCAA tournament with his commitment.

More from Sporting News:

Ivan Rabb is a top-three player in the senior class and an Oakland native. Landing him would not only give the program an immediate replacement for David Kravish but would signal their ability to recruit in northern California as well.

Rabb also played with the Oakland Soliders on the EYBL circuit. If the new staff can create a pipeline to that program, the Golden Bears will be in good shape locally.

Caleb Swanigan (scouting report): If Rabb can play from all spots on the court, the Fort Wayne (Indiana) Homestead center can be the big body that turns Cal into a national powerhouse. Already plenty fluid and able to play like a typical NBA four. Michigan State is the team to beat, and there are other major national programs who will play their hands. But the allure of Swanigan playing with his friend Rabb as INSTANT Cal starters could be too good to pass up.

Davon Dillard (scouting report): The Gary (Indiana) Our Savior New American swingman appears to be our next option up with Tyler Dorsey to Oregon, and he can ball. Check out the hops.

Cuonzo Martin was pretty well-known for his ability to sell the program, but a big weekend here and Cal instantly will attract that national attention, and can start building up momentum for future classes. It would be an amazing turnaround to land two or three of these prospects, although I'm pretty sure most Cal fans will be happy with getting the local Rabb.

GO BEARS!
