Cal will have to get back to bolstering their linebacker class this month. Jordan High linebacker Markus Wright committed to Cal in July (check out his scouting report here), but has decided to reopen his recruitment after consulting with the coaching staff.

As expected, there will be some turnover from our original commits pre-summer. But this is probably not the place Cal wanted to lose commits. With Wright's decommitment, Cameron Goode is now the only linebacker commit, and this is a definite position of need for the Bears. Cal's linebackers really struggled to excel this season and was the undoing of the defense on too many occasions. The Bears need an upgrade in talent here.
I expect Cal has some new options they can look at for linebackers, and they probably want to secure at least three commits here. This is probably where we'll see the most movement in this class come National Signing Day.
