Cal has found another commit in the secondary. Junior college defensive back Marloshawn Franklin committed to the California Golden Bears tonight after taking his official visit to Berkeley this past weekend. Franklin joins Traveon Beck, Camryn Bynum and Josh Drayden among our current defensive back commits.

Franklin has flown under the radar. As far as I know, this is his first major offer--he doesn't really appear on any of the recruiting services, so Sonny Dykes and crew must really like what they see on the tape and were equally impressed on the visit.

Marloshawn is in his sophomore year of junior college, so I'd guess he would have two years of eligibility remaining. Franklin registered 41 tackles this season, 30 solo.
Here is his highlight tape. You can see that at 6'1 and 185 pounds, he would definitely have the big physical measurables to play stronger against the more athletic wide recievers. We'll try and get you a more detailed scouting report soon.
Welcome to Cal Marloshawn! GO BEARS!
