Cal will play Air Force in 2015 Armed Forces Bowl

Go Bears!

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Boy, this sounds familiar After a 5-0 start and a less-than-impressive finish, Cal has been selected for the Armed Forces Bowl and will face the Air Force Falcons in Fort Worth. The game will take place on December 29th at 11 am Pacific, 2 pm Eastern on ESPN.

Cal last played Air Force...in 2007, in the Armed Forces Bowl, coming back from 21-0 to win 42-36.

Cal went 7-5 this season, starting the year 5-0, including wins over Texas in Texas, Mountain West champions San Diego State, 8-4 Washington State, and 6-6 Washington. The Bears then stumbled with four straight losses, with two narrow six point losses to Utah and USC, and decisive defeats to Oregon and UCLA. Cal rebounded with a win against Oregon State to assure themselves of bowl eligibility, lost the Big Game, then finished the season with a dramatic come-from-behind victory against Arizona State on Senior Day.

This is the first bowl game for the Golden Bears since 2011 after three losing seasons and the first for Sonny Dykes and Jared Goff since arriving at Cal in 2013. This should be a good chance to pick up a solid eighth win and keep the momentum moving forward for the Golden Bears.
