Cal football recruiting commits, Friday Night Lights: Tevin Paul victorious in semifinal

Not a ton of action this week for Cal football commits as the playoffs are winding down, or already over in some states, but Tevin Paul's team advanced to the championship game of 6A Division II.

Daniel Juarez (OL) and Camryn Bynum (CB): Corona (Ca.) Centennial (14-0)

Centennial were on a bye this past week, but are gearing up to play Concord (Ca.) De La Salle (12-1) on Friday in a battle between the best team Northern California has to offer against Southern California's top team.

Centennial will have revenge on their minds as they look to avenge last season's 63-42 defeat to De La Salle in this very game.

The state championship games started in 2006 and De La Salle has played in this game each and every season since then, but this will be the first time the game is played in Northern California (Sacramento) since its inception.

Tevin Paul: DE, Austin (Tx.) Lake Travis (15-0)

Lake Travis took care of business against Mansfield in the semifinals of the 6A Division II playoffs and will turn their attention to Katy (15-0) in the championship game.

Lake Travis has been a wrecking ball this season, but Katy is the most formidable opponent they have faced as 12 of their 15 victories have been by 30 or more points.

Paul contributed seven tackles to the winning effort in the semifinals. Paul has been nominated for Dave Campbell's Texas Football Subway Super Team. You can vote for him through December 31.

Good luck to Paul, Bynum and Juarez as they look to end their high school careers by winning state championships!
