When: 2:15, or later if Texas A&M/Ohio St. runs long
TV: None
Stream: Costs $$, is unreliable, not recommended
This is going to be a quick one because we're in the thick of an exhausting stretch of Cal sports action, and because again nobody is likely to actually see this game.
Yesterday was a rough day for the Bears, who lost by 17 to the Texas A&M Aggies in a game that wasn't really that close either. Cal didn't have an answer for Courtney Williams (32 points) and only Kristine Anigwe got anything going offensively.
The Bears have an immediate chance to bounce back, but it's going to have to come against a very good Liberty team that made the NCAA tournament last year and has given a few solid teams tough games.
Liberty's go-to scorer is a 6'4'' senior named Ashley Rininger, and it will be interesting to see (in theory, since we can't watch) if Coach G throws Chen Yue at her to match up size wise. Generally speaking, Liberty is an interior oriented team that doesn't want to shoot 3s, likes to work on the offensive glass, and has issues with turnovers. I'm inclined to think that, based on the stats, this is a better match-up for us, but that's guess work at best from me. We'll see! Sort of!
