Insta-recap: Cal MBB is 4-1 after a roller-coaster game against SDSU

A great learning experience for a team that has never been the big time favorites and a bigger opportunity for the freshman to learn.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

In the first half, Cal got out to a 36-28 lead led by Ivan Rabb and his 14 points and 5 rebounds. The Bears shot 43% from the field as a team despite Jordan Mathews and Jaylen Brown struggling from the floor shooting 2-7 and 0-2 respectively. SDSU did not have a good shooting first half only hitting 9-32 (28.1%).

In the second half SDSU mounted a furious comeback led by Winston Shepard. Cal got into early foul trouble as well that limited the rotation that Coach Martin could use in the second half. SDSU did not let up the entire second half and was able to over come a 15 point deficit to come out victorious.

Let's talk about the game.
