Insta-recap Cal Men's Basketball is 4-0 after beating Sam Houston State!

Cal wins 89-63!!!! 4-0!!!!!!

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Bears grabbed an easy win after jumping out to a 44-29 lead in the first half. Lots of highlight reel dunks and alley-oops. Lots of blocks. Lots of steals. Lots of put-backs. The Bears shot 17-31 at the half but only knocked in 2-7 3PT attempts. Sam Houston State looked to be on a roll staying in the game early on in the half, but after a huge 19-3 run by the Bears, the Bearkats did not have enough firepower to get themselves back in the game. Tyrone Wallace paced the offense with 17 Points, 7 Rebounds and 6 Assists. Jaylen Brown had his best game as a Golden Bear with 18 Points, 11 Rebounds, 4 Assists and 2 Steals. Jordan Mathews pitched in with 18 points on 4-5 shooting and 3-3 from beyond the arc. Brandon Chauca also got some play time tonight, burning his possible redshirt for this season. Nick Kerr also got some time at the end of the game as well. Overall the Bears played exceptionally on the offensive end and especially in the open court. The Bears first real test will come later this week against SDSU and possibly West Virgnia

Highlight of the Game: Jabari Bird throws the ball off the backboard to himself as the shot clock expires and throws down a two hand dunk.

Post-Game Conference Quotes:

Ty Wallace:

"These guys are highly talented people."

"With all the talent we have we can score the ball."

"Team chemistry is great, it definitely translates onto the court."

Jaylen Brown:

"In transition, we're much faster harder to guard."

Coach Cuonzo Martin:

"That was our best game on both sides of the floor."

"They won't be afraid of [Playing higher level teams]."

"Ivan's a natural passer...We tried to get him the ball a lot because we thought he'd see a lot of double teams and could pass out to the perimeter guys."
