Cal has not beaten Stanford in the 2010s. Is this the year it ends?
Cal looks to end a five year losing streak to Stanford in Palo Alto this Saturday in the 118th Big Game. This class of Golden Bears has never beaten Stanford, and they will do their best to make sure that it all ends this weekend. They will do it as underdogs, as the Cardinal opens up as 12.5 point favorites against the Bears.
Cal's last win against the Cardinal came in Palo Alto in 2009, when awesome things happened (Shane Vereen, Mike Mohamed, Kevin Riley, you might remember). Cal then got rolled in 2010 in Memorial to start us on a downward trend against the Cardinal. The Bears got close to an upset in 2011 in Stanford, but since then have been utterly dominated either offensively in 2012, defensively in 2013, or just didn't have their A-game in 2014. Can Cal take advantage of the most defensively vulnerable Stanford team they've faced yet?
If Cal beats Stanford, Oregon could potentially control their destiny in the Pac-12 North, shutting Stanford out of the Rose Bowl.
