The expectations for the California Golden Bears are sky high on the hardwood to start 2015. Cal is ranked 14th in the preseason coaches poll, the second of four Pac-12 teams to be ranked. Cal is behind Arizona (10th) and just ahead of Utah (16th).
Cal hasn't been ranked in the preseason since the 2009-10 season, when they ended up winning the Pac-10. It's been awhile since Cal has finished a season ranked though, so that could be a good goal for the season!
This is your yearly reminder how little preseason polls matter, particularly in college basketball. But hey get hyped anyway!
The media has also picked Cal to finish second in the Pac-12, right behind Arizona. Cal received nine first place votes, Arizona 18, and Utah 7, with UCLA and Oregon also picking up a ballot each. The Bears are a solid second place in the balloting.
