The California Golden Bears have reached into the South and land another big-time player. Prattville (Al.) athlete Keith Washington has committed to Cal. Washington reopened his recruitment from Duke in September after making a verbal in June, and is now ready to be a Golden Bear.
I have decided to further my football career at the University of Cal! #GoBears All praises to God. #Blessed

Based on his 6'2, 170 pound frame, I'm guessing Washington was being recruited as a defensive back, particularly at cornerback. Cal appears to want as much secondary depth as they can find after another tough season of pass defense.
Washington held offers from Cal, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri and North Carolina. Washington visited Cal back in October, was high on the Bears back then, and has now solidified his commitment. Washington actually visited Louisville this weekend and got an offer from the Cardinals, but saw enough that he was pretty happy to commit to the Bears.
Here are his rankings.
Rivals: 3 stars, 26th best athlete, 15th best recruit from Alabama
Scout: 3 stars, 146th best cornerback
247 Sports: 3 stars
Here are his Hudl highlights.
Cal continues to build up its cachet of Southern recruits, with already six commits coming from East of the Mississippi and South of the Mason-Dixon line. Will bringing in those Southern athletes provide an upgrade in our overall team speed?
Welcome to Cal Keith! GO BEARS!
