2014 NBA Draft Open Thread

No Golden Bears are expected to be selected, but plenty of familiar Pac-12 faces will hear their names called tonight.

Trivia Question: After David Stern passed the baton to Adam Silver at the end of the 2013 NBA Draft first round, who is the first person to shake Silver's hand? Answer: Allen Crabbe (1st pick of the 2nd round and present in Brooklyn last year).

It's time for the NBA Draft, where freakishly tall young man get to showcase some interesting choices in men's fashion (TwistNHook will surely comment on that either here or in tomorrow's DBD). No Golden Bears (or more specifically Justin Cobbs nor Richard Solomon) are expected to be selected (there is some slim chance of being a late 2nd round pick where one may actually prefers to be a Free Agent), but there will again be plenty of Pac-12 representations.

Cleveland Cavaliers defied the odds and got the 1st overall pick again. Will they take Jabari Parker (Duke) or Andrew Wiggins (Kansas) or surprise people by going with Dante Exum (Australian Institute of Sport)? Will teams view the already injured Joel Embiid (Kansas) as more Hakeen Olajuwon or Greg Oden?

As for Pac-12 alum, Arizona's one and done PF Aaron Gordon is expected to be a lottery pick. Other locks for the 1st round include UCLA's guards in Zack LaVine and Jordan Adams. Both of those guys are expected to go earlier than the much more established former UCLA Bruin in Kyle Anderson.

Other Pac-12 folks who may hear their name called (but more likely in the 2nd round) are Colorado's Spencer Dinwiddie, Washington's C.J. Wilcox, Arizona's Nick Johnson, Arizona State's Jordan Bachynski and Stanfurd's Josh Huestis and Dwight Powell. Few of these guys may be in the Justin Cobbs category, although more recent mock drafts that I have glanced at include them over Cobbs.

Of course, a very big part of the NBA Draft night fun is all the trades that may take place. Will the three current Golden Bears in the NBA (Ryan Anderson with the New Orleans Pelicans, Allen Crabbe of the Portland Trail Blazers, and Jorge Gutierrez of the Brooklyn Nets) get new teammates or be traded themselves? Former UCLA Bruin Kevin Love is also rumored to be on the move.

Discuss the crazy affair that is the NBA Draft below.
