Cal football recruiting: Brady White, Trent Irwin, Christian Kirk visit, plus Junior Day update

Who was in attendance at Cal Junior Day?

Cal Bears Online

We are three months into the 2014 recruiting cycle, and so far the California Golden Bears have yet to pick up a single recruiting commitment for this cycle. There are a definite list of names out there as to who Cal could end up picking.

The biggest recruiting question on the board is quarterback. Our hopes currently lie in the hands of Newhall (Ca.) Hart prospect Brady White. White is visiting Cal this weekend along with his teammate, wide receiver Trent Irwin. But he will continue to take his time with regards to his final decision. He also had a great weekend participating in 7-on-7s.

Another potential name to watch out for? Pleasanton (Ca.) Foothill QB Kyle Kearns.

Good news for Cal is that Kearns's teammate Isaiah Langley figures to have Cal in the mix right into the very end. More from Ryan Gorcey at Bear Territory ($).

Perhaps the biggest piece of news quarterback-wise? Luke Rubenzer is making sure his high school wide receiver Christian Kirk from Scottsdale (Az.) Saguaro takes a visit to Berkeley this upcoming weekend.

Peoria (Az.) Centennial running back Dedrick Young won't be visiting until Cal's spring game. One of the few running backs that Cal has offered, Young might be heading for a decision sooner rather than later.

Another potential name to watch for the first commitment is Chino Hills (Ca.) Ayala defensive back Malik Psalms. He's coming to Cal for another visit this weekend.

San Diego (Ca.) St. Augustine defensive back Frank Buncom is now approaching multiple visits to Berkeley.

Salt Lake City (Ut.) Brighton linebacker Osa Masina also drew a Cal offer. Masina holds offers from pretty much everyone.

Heading to the Lone Star State, Pflugerville (Tx.) Hendrickson offensive lineman Blake Browning came over to California for Junior Day. At the moment, he holds an offer from Tulsa. Ryan Gorcey check in on the prospect to learn more about his situation ($).

Pearland (Tx.) offensive lineman Willie Williams also had a good Junior Day experience. Up to this point I don't believe any major schools have offered him yet.

Hayward (Ca.) Stellar Prep wide receiver Darrell Adams (offered by Arizona State). More can be found from Marc Tausend's (MANBEARCAL!) interview with him ($), which touches on his developing relationship with Art Kaufman.

Another local name to take a look at is Adams's teammate, Hayward (Ca.) Stellar Prep defensive back Chandler Gumbs. Currently only Colorado State has offered (courtesy of an old friend, Al Simmons), but Ryan Gorcey seems to indicate that we could get into the mix pretty quickly with an offer.

Projecting a year into the future: 2016 Pittsburg (Ca.) defensive back Shurod Thompson attended Junior Day and got the local Cal offer.

Other names in attendance at Cal Junior Day?

Anaheim (Ca.) Servite offensive lineman Clayton Johnston

Bellevue (Wa.) offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton

San Leandro (Ca.) athlete Stephen Johnson III (who was just offered by Oregon).
