With Travis DeCuire and Russell Turner literally your only fixtures of the Cal coaching search, names just seem to pop out of nowhere. Joe Pasternack was your rumored candidate yesterday. Time for more madness today. Xavier head coach Chris Mack has emerged out of nowhere as a potential target for the job.

Mack has done very well in his few years at Xavier. The Musketeers have gone to two Sweet 16s (twice in his first three seasons), he's handled the transition from the Atlantic 10 to the Big East quite well, he's finished in the top three of his conference four times in five seasons, and won two Atlantic Ten titles in his first two seasons. Now, the caveat of those titles is that he was following Sean Miller, and Miller recruited exceptionally well at Arizona.
Now, let's be clear. If this story is true, OFFERING the job does not mean Mack has accepted it. He is a Xavier grad and has done exceptionally well there. But he does seem like a legitimate candidate for the job and does have bona fide credentials at an excellent basketball mid-major.
What do you think of the possibility of Mack at Cal?
