A report is coming in from Football Scoop that Cal have hired Fred Tate as their new defensive line coach.
Fred Tate formerly w Kaufman at Cincinnati will join the Cal staff coaching the DL

Per his Cincinnati bio, he's a 16 year coach, who coached the defensive tackles there under Art Kaufman. He also coached with Kaufman and Tommy Tuberville the year before at Texas Tech. Tate was let go along with Kaufman.
Tate has been everywhere, and has had numerous stops throughout his career. He has spent most of the last decade working his way up the coaching totem pole, spending numerous seasons at midmajor spots before finally landing positions at Texas Tech and Cincinnati.
Here is the overall coaching resume.
Defensive Line Cincinnati 2013
Defensive Line Texas Tech 2012
Defensive Line Marshall 2011
Safeties Marshall 2010
Defensive Line UT Chattanooga 2008 - 2009
Defensive Line Southern Miss 2005 - 2006
Outside Linebackers ECU 2003 - 2004
Defensive Line Middle Tennessee 2002
Defensive Line Texas State 2001
Defensive Line East Mississippi 2000
Defensive Line Jacksonville State 1998 - 1999
Tight Ends East Central CC 1997
There has been a lot of shuffling with the defensive coaches this off-season, with Barry Sacks and Randy Stewart being shown the door, former Defensive Coordinator Andy Buh being reportedly reassigned to the athletic department (which opened the door for Tate to officially join the Cal coaching staff). In their place come Kaufman as the new defensive coordinator and Greg Burns as the new secondary coach. The only survivor seems to be Garret Chachere, who might be moving to linebackers to work with Kaufman (no word yet though).
We'll continue to update you as we find out more about the coaching staff for 2014. If this report is true, welcome to Cal, Mr. Tate. Go Bears!
