Cal football 2014 spring practice schedule announced

Unlike last year, only SIX of the 15 practices will be open. Times are listed below.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It won't exactly be an open book, but at least we'll still get some access. Here are the open practices, whose times I have conveniently copied and pasted from calbears.com:

Monday, March 31st - 3:30 - 6p.m.

Saturday, April 5th - 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Wednesday, April 9th - 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Saturday, April 12th - 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Cal Day)

Friday, April 18th - 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Saturday, April 26th - 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (Cal Spring Experience - Pac 12 Network)

April 26th, the spring scrimmage, will also have free donuts, posters, and an on-field meet and greet, as well as a face-painting zone. More activities are said to be announced.

Now, here is the answer to the question you are wondering -- how does this reduced open practice schedule affect CGB's coverage of spring ball?

It won't.

I'll be on the scene for all six practices, doing my usual thing. Because the media relations department understandably started clamp down on what information was allowed to be reported last year, I am not yet sure as to what I'll be allowed to tweet or talk about, but you can be assured that I'll be in attendance regardless. That means that there will be a write-up of some form for the next morning, although what it'll look like is yet to be determined.

Personally, I'm not sure what I can contribute beyond those six write-ups, with work and all. I may be able to squeeze in a couple interviews, too. We may also have Eugene available to help out as well.

Anyway, those are the practice dates -- see some of you there!
