Cal football recruiting: Cameron Scarlett, Kyahva Tezino, Dechaun Holiday among West Coast targets

We took a look at local prospects recently. Who else have the Bears offered along the West Coast?

Perhaps the most familiar name on this list is Central Catholic (Or.) running back Cameron Scarlett. Cameron is the brother of current Cal linebacker Brennan Scarlett and is considered the top prospect in the state of Oregon by almost all the recruiting services.

Cal has to feel like they have a great shot here. But Oregon and Stanfurd aren’t going to sit down here; they’ve offered and will make hard charges. Arizona State, BYU, Oregon State have all offered as well.

Heading back down to California, Los Angeles (Ca.) Salesian athlete Kyahva Tezino has Cal in his top four, right along with Arizona, Miami (Fl.), and UCLA. Tezino received his offer from Cal back in the summer of 2014, and already has offers from around half the Pac-12.

Also offered: San Marcos (Ca.) Mission Hills safety Dechaun Holiday. Holiday has offers from most of the Pac-12, including USC. Expect the Bruins and Trojans to be the heavy favorites in the battle to land him.

Temecula (Ca.) Chaparral offensive lineman Mason Walter also received an offer, shortly after getting interest from Colorado State and Iowa State.

Calvin Throckmorton, Bellevue (Wa.) Newport offensive lineman has been offered by WSU, ASU, Washington and Oregon.

Last season was Throckmorton's first as a starter and he said he felt he held his own, but plans to work that much harder this spring and summer to get ready for his senior season.

"You always have stuff to improve on and I think I learned a lot of different things that I need to focus on, but overall I think I did okay," Throckmorton said. "Hand placement, footwork, staying low, those are all things that I need to work on. This summer I learned a lot from the different coaches I worked with at camps and I think as I keep working on it, it will get a lot better."

Throckmorton talked about his interest in Cal with Grant Marek at Cal Rivals ($). He's also a big fan of Oregon.

Throckmorton isn't the only Bellevue big who's getting a look from Cal. Bellevue (Wa.) offensive lineman Henry Roberts got a Cal offer as well and will be heading to the Army All-American Game next year. Roberts has offers from many Pac-12 schools, including Furd, Oregon, USC, Washington and Arizona State.

Yakima (Wa.) offensive lineman Shane Lemieux has been starting to see offers from just about everywhere, including the Bears. Arizona State, Utah, East Carolina all picked up offers, but Oregon and South Carolina appear to be the top two teams though.

Chandler (Az.) defensive end Caleb Peart also has a Cal offer along with Arizona State, Boise State, Nevada and Northwestern.

Tempe (Az.) Corona Del Sol linebacker Cassius Peat is attracting plenty of interest from schools like UCLA, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

2016 Los Angeles (Ca.) Windward School athlete Breland Brandt picked up a Cal offer. UCLA, USC, Arizona State, Colorado have all offered.

Another sophomore that got an offer was 2016 Etiwanda (Ca.) cornerback Treyjohn Butler. Etiwanda might sound familiar to you as the school of Cal great Marvin Jones. Butler has shown impressive athleticism early and will be someone to watch early on the recruiting trail.
