When: 4:30 PM

The reigning Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week: freshmen Roser Tarrago (who scored 6 goals) and goalie Madeline Trabucco (with 13 saves) will try to lead the Bears past the undefeated USC squad. Bears have faced USC once this season in the end of the February at the UC Irvine tournament.

The young Bears have won the Newcomer of the week 5 times this season.

Freshmen Make Immediate Impact For Bears
The future looks extremely bright for the Bears, as their top three scorers are freshmen, two of whom are among the top-6 scorers in the MPSF. Dora Antal, who played in the 2012 Summer Olympics for Hungary, leads the conference at 3.25 goals per game. After missing the first six matches of the season, fellow freshman Roser Tarrago has scored 25 goals for a 2.27 average, which is tied for sixth in the MPSF. Tarrago won a Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympics playing for her native Spain. Antal has been named the MPSF/KAP 7 Newcomer of the Week three times this season, one short of the conference record. Tarrago has been named Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, and freshman goalie Madeline Trabucco is the reigning MPSF/KAP 7 Newcomer of the Week. Finally, freshman Anna Illesof Hungary also has 25 goals this season.

Junior Kelly McGee is blogging on CalBears.com this season.

For those of you in the Berkeley area, hopefully you had the chance to read the Daily Californian on Thursday, March 6th. Cal water polo’s own Dora Antal was featured for a story that ran on the back page. I personally thought it was front-page material, but they unfortunately didn’t ask me my opinion. For those of you who didn’t see it, don’t worry! Just follow this link to see it online.

For those fans who have been reading the blog since the beginning, you know that the team was extremely excited for the start of the show, "The Bachelor." I thought that I should give you an update and let you know that the show finished this past Monday. I can’t say that the team is very disappointed with its conclusion; honestly it became quite painful to watch week after week. But, we still have faith that the new bachelorette, Andi, will make for exciting television! The new season starts on May 19th. Let the countdown begin (I should have a deal with ABC for all of these shoutouts!)!

See you all this weekend when we play at USC on Saturday! If you can’t be there, make sure to catch the game on the Pac-12 Networks! GO BEARS!

GO BEARS!
