Cal bounced back from a heartbreaking loss to Furd on Friday night (giving up 6 straight runs when only needing one more out to win) by sweeping Saturday's doubleheader against the Bay Area Rival. In a contrast of yesterday's game, game 1 was a pitcher's duel as Cal's Aussie freshman hurler Stephanie Trycinski tossed a complete game and Victoria Jones provided the key hit.

Game 2 was all Bears as Cal got a 8 run frame in the 2nd, including a 3-run homer by Danielle Henderson. Pitching was again an issue until Trycinski came back in to settle things down (although she did allow three inherit runs to score).

Bears are now 12-11 for the season and 2-1 in the Pac-12.

ROLL ON YOU BEARS!

Game Update: @CalSoftball

The Friday night Pac-12 opener was a crazy one. A total of 27 runs were scored with the Bears blowing a 5 run lead in the bottom of the 7th to allow 'Furd to take a 14-13 win (yes, that meant that the Bears couldn't prevent Furd from scoring 6 runs in an inning).

The two squads are back for not just more but two this afternoon with all the action on the Pac-12 Networks.

The Bears used all 4 of their pitchers yesterday with mixed effectiveness.

Starter Nisa Ontiveros actually was called back (players are allowed to reenter the game once in college softball) to try to get the final out.

On the bright side, the top of the Cal line up with DP (usually SS) Cheyenne Cordes and SS Kylie Reed went 9 for 12 to set the table. All the starters other than RF Vanessa Alvarez got at least at least a hit. The Bears got a season high in both hits (19) and runs (13).

On the flip side, Furd's leadoff player Leah White went 4 for 5 with 5 RBI's.

WHO TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND
