Cal fans can breathe easy. Tre Watson’s absolute commitment should ensure that the Bears hang onto all of the members of their 20 man class.

It was a bit of a battle at the end, but Watson ended up sticking with his original commitment to the California Golden Bears. Watson committed to Cal last May, has been pursued strongly by schools like the Utah Utes and the Washington Huskies, but ended up deciding that Berkeley was the place he wanted to play his college ball.

The operative word on Watson is decisive. The 5’11, 195 pound back possesses amazing quickness and ability to read the defense to decide which hole to cut through. He had an incredible senior season, rushing for over 3,700 yards at Corona (Ca.) Centennial and piling up 50 touchdowns.

Here are Watson’s senior year highlights.

Watson’s rankings from the recruiting services are as follows.

  • Rivals: Four stars, 27th best running back, 39th best California recruit
  • Scout: Three stars, 49th best running back
  • 247Sports: Three stars, 52nd best running back, 78th best California recruit
  • ESPN:  Three stars, 142nd best running back, 125th best California recruit
