Chase Forrest sent in his letter of intent to the California Golden Bears to secure his commitment for the 2014 recruiting class. The Santa Ana (Ca.) Mater Dei quarterback will be on his way to Berkeley next season.
Cal is losing not one but two quarterbacks from the five they had at this time last spring. Allan Bridgford transferred in the spring and Zach Kline left after the conclusion of this season. With Kyle Boehm converted to non-typical quarterback duties, that leaves only Jared Goff and Austin Hinder returning. Cal definitely could use two quarterbacks in this class to balance things out. With Luke Rubenzer already landed as the primary target, Forrest provides a nice late boost and should fill the team with decent quality depth.
Here are Forrest’s highlights on Hudl, and just like Rubenzer looks like he’s as much a threat to run as he is to pass. These are the type of quarterbacks Sonny Dykes and Tony Franklin would love to have to maximize the deadliness of the Bear Raid offensive attack. Here are his recruiting rankings.
- 247Sports: Three stars, 110th best California recruit, 53rd best pro-style quarterback
- Rivals: Two stars
- Scout: 85th best quarterback, two stars.
