Trevor Kelly, Cal football early enrollee

San Mateo junior college defensive tackle Trevor Kelly could take part in spring practice!

Cal needed a lot of junior college talent in this class to try and make up for the massive losses of the 2013 regular season. It's particularly an issue on the defensive line with Deandre Coleman graduating, Vei Moala declaring early, and Chris McCain parting ways with the program.

College of San Mateo defensive tackle Trevor Kelly is one of those additions, and he's an absolutely necessary one. Kelly provides the Bears with a real defensive tackle in his issue.

To ensure Kelly could enroll early at Cal and get into Berkeley by the winter semester, Davis has already a signed mid-year financial aid agreement and is already on campus as an early enrolle. And the Bears need him here as quickly as possible. With only Jacobi Hunter returning healthy among the current defensive tackles, Kelly will be counted on to play immediately.

Here's the link to Trevor Kelly's Hudl tape, as well as his overall rankings.

From CalBears.com:

Head Coach Sonny Dykes
"Trevor is a powerful and explosive athlete who is very productive at the defensive tackle position. He plays with great pad level, uses his hands well and has tremendous strength in the weight room."

College of San Mateo Defensive Coordinator Tim Tulloch
"Trevor had a great season for us. He’s strong and super quick, and he’s so explosive with his hands he just knocks guys back. He’s a physical force and a monster inside. He dominates offensive linemen. It’s also great to work with guys who are really coachable – blue-collar guys that will really put in work and that’s what Trevor is."
