As we turn the page to 2015 recruiting, let’s start taking a look at the next important step for this coaching staff--finding their quarterback. Cal will try and scoop up for the upcoming class. Joe is going to have a more detailed breakdown of our first two targets tomorrow, but let's lay down briefly who has already been offered
Cal got two quarterbacks in the 2014 class, with Luke Rubenzer their main target and Chase Forrest there to provide quality depth. This year expect just one commitment, but thankfully there is a strong selection of players to choose from this season, with two offers going to top three national pro-style quarterbacks.
Offered quarterbacks
Josh Rosen, Bellflower (Ca.) St. John Bosco QB: Rosen is obviously the crown jewel for most schools in this class, and his recruitment will be one of high interest for us. Rosen is probably one of the two best pro-style quarterbacks in this class along with Ricky Town. He’s on the shortlist for being maybe the best recruit in the country. Rosen got his offer in June and visited Cal early last season.
Biggest competition: UCLA. I doubt Rosen wants to leave California, and with USC snatching up Ricky Town the Bruins figure to be the prohibitive favorites. But there are some big schools in the mix like Texas, Michigan and Notre Dame.
Projection: Obviously, if Rosen makes it clear he wants to be a Bear, the coaching staff will do whatever they can to land him. But unless Cal has a drastic turnaround next season I would put our chances at long with the Bruins in the driver seat.

Brady White, Newhall (Ca.) Hart QB: If Cal can’t get Rosen, Brady White is no consolation prize. White was offered in late January and seems to be the guy that Cal is focused on as their best shot, and at times looks just as good as Rosen or Town.
White is ranked a little bit behind the two premier signal-callers, but not too significantly. Hart is a strong school with a tradition of winning that has produced Cal quarterbacks like Joe Kapp and Kyle Boller.
Biggest competition: Undetermined. There are only a few offers at the moment from schools like Colorado State, Illinois, Indiana and San Jose State. But I’d expect the offer list to grow this spring.
Projection: I like where Cal stands with White. Cal has not only offered him but also his teammate in wide receiver Trent Irwin. It’s not a package deal situation but you have to figure if one comes here the other will follow.
I have a feeling that if things don’t pick up with Rosen, White will become our primary target and we’ll do our best to land his commitment sometime this spring. It would be really cool for the Pac-12 if the big three California schools landed the top three pro-style quarterbacks in the country next year.

Kevin Dillman, La Mirada (Ca.) QB: Dillman was the hot commodity in 2014 among junior quarterbacks, attracting offers from most schools. The Swedish prospect received plenty of offers from major schools, including Cal. Heck, he got an invite to the Army Bowl when he was still a sophomore. (White and Rosen also have Army Bowl invites)
Biggest competition: Everyone. Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, Nebraska and Tennessee have offered, as has nearly half the Pac-12.
Projection: Remote. Dillman has too many major offers. It seems he’s also embracing his inner Scandinavian and has Michigan and Nebraska in his early top two. Although if he did commit to Cal, I will happily call him Swedish Chef for the entirety of his career here.

Kyler Murray, Allen (Tx.) QB: The 5’11, 170 pound dual-threat quarterback is one of the best players on the board, but it’s going to be tough to get him. Too many good offers and I doubt that Cal is on his radar at the moment.
Projection: Not here. Murray has offers from several SEC schools, Notre Dame, Ohio State, many of the major Texas programs and Clemson. I’d be shocked if he ended up a Bear.

Blake Barnett, Corona (Ca.) Santiago QB: Barnett was offered in November but has already committed to Notre Dame. Arizona, Michigan, UCLA and West Virginia were among the other schools that offered Barnett, who is among the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country.
What do you all think? Which quarterback would you want among this group? Which quarterbacks are out there that are also worth offering?
