Bowl season began on Saturday with a quartet of bowls. Today and tomorrow, there are three more for your viewing enjoyment.
The full bowl schedule for the bowl season is below, as a public service to you. As for the bowls played tonight and tomorrow, here's the skinny:
Monday: BYU vs. Memphis in the Miami Beach Bowl
- What to watch for: BYU (8-4) is the team that knocked Cal out of bowl eligibility in the regular season finale. Will the Cougars finish their season on an even higher note? It won't be easy against Memphis. The Tigers (9-3) gave UCLA all it could handle earlier this season and are riding a six-game winning streak. Also, watch for Fiat Lux in the stands. A little bird told me he is attending this game.
- UPDATE: In a wild one, Memphis defeated BYU 55-48 in 2 OT. And a postgame brawl broke out.

Tuesday: Marshall vs. Northern Illinois in the Boca Raton Bowl
- What to watch for: Marshall is 12-1, with its only loss a 67-66 overtime classic to Western Kentucky on November 28. The Thundering Herd features quarterback Rakeem Cato, who passed for 3,622 yards and and 37 touchdowns this season. Meanwhile, Northern Illinois (11-2) is the MAC champion. And as Mike Pawlawski once said: never thumb your nose at a conference champion.
Tuesday: San Diego State vs. Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl
- What to watch for: Navy (7-5) played less than two weeks ago in the Army-Navy game. San Diego State (7-5) has not played since November 29. Will the Midshipmen be sharper as a result? Or will the Aztecs' rest be an advantage?
