Cal is continuing to go hard after Southern recruits, as our most recent weekend of visits exhibits. The press is on.

Georgia commit New Orleans (La.) Holy Cross wide receiver Michael Chigbu picked up a Cal offer. It might be tough to get him away from the Bulldogs, but it's nice to see Cal aiming high.

Rivals250 linebacker Murfreesboro (Tn.) Oakland linebacker Josh Smith is one such target. Cal has offered the Vanderbilt commit, and Smith will trek out West for the experience. Ole Miss, Kentucky and Oklahoma are also lined up for trips, with Vandy getting the last word.

Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern athlete/quarterback and Duke commit T.J. Rahming is also on the radar of the coaching staff. The Blue Devils will do everything in their power to keep him though.

Cal's biggest offensive line target remains Oklahoma City (Ok.) Casady School offensive guard Josh Wariboko. The competition is fierce (Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Louisville and California is his current list). Adam Grosbard of SMU Rivals has more.

Wariboko is not sure when he will make his commitment but he gave three possibilities: Next week on his birthday (December 17), at the All-American game, or on Signing Day itself. The 6-foot-3, 314-pound guard says the three most important characteristics of his future school are going to be, "Resources after college, a good football program and academics."

The Bears still have to ensure they solidify the commitments of this year's recruiting class. Atlanta (Ga.) Westminster defensive end Russell Ude (scouting report) committed to Cal, but it's not totally secure yet. Miami is coming a calling.

One of Cal's top targets is Pleasant Hill (Ca.) Diablo Valley C.C. cornerback Antoine Albert. Albert was high on Oregon State but does not seem keen on following Mike Riley to Nebraska, so that's not happening. Looks like Iowa State is climbing into the mix though.

Chino Hills (Ca.) Ayala cornerback Malik Psalms (scouting report) appears rock solid.

Cal also needs to get started on 2016, which could shape up to be a really strong class if the Bears produce the season we're all hoping for. Etiwanda (Ca.) defensive back Treyjohn Butler seems to like what he's seeing from the Bears staff. Arizona State, Northwestern, Washington, and Washington State have all offered.

Defensive tackle always remains a priority for the 4-3, with 2016 Destrehan (La.) defensive tackle Glen Logan receiving an offer.
