Needless to say, our defensive secondary is in dire need for improvement. That may come in the form of our newest JUCO commit at safety, Derron Brown!
Mesa CC DB @DerronBrown_ told us three weeks ago he was close to committing to #Cal, just confirmed to us he finally pulled the trigger.

I'm proud to announce I've committed to the University of California Berkeley ! #GoldenBears

Check out Brown's highlights from his year at Mesa Community College at his Hudl page and we'll have a more in-depth look in the coming weeks.
Brown has three years of eligibility to play the next three seasons and should provide immediate depth at a position of need. He wasn't recruited much coming out of high school due to a smaller frame, but he's grown since then up to a 6'2, 195 pound frame with a 4.45 40 yard dash. That just screams safety, and the Bears could use plenty of depth at the position with Michael Lowe graduating and ... well, we need safeties. A lot of them. Preferably in bunches of three.
This is a good early offseason pickup, and hopefully the first of many.
Welcome to the 3rd-best global university, Derron!
