First and foremost, our prayers are with Trevor Davis and Chris Harper. This is just a game and we hope for the best. We will update you on their status as soon as we hear anything. The good news is that he appears to be conscious and the two thumbs ups he gave at the end of the game drew two of the loudest chants in Memorial Stadium history, so it looks like he should be okay.
As to the game....
Cal could not run the football today. Their offensive line could not protect Jared Goff for the second straight week in a row. They missed hundreds of thousands of tackles. They were outgained by 200 rushing yards on the ground. The MVP for much of the game was the punter.
And the coaching staff were awful. Sonny Dykes called terrible timeouts, Tony Franklin called terrible plays, and Art Kaufman's unit couldn't tackle at any point when they needed it. Bad, bad game by everyone. If not for three terrible turnovers by UCLA gifting us 20 points, this would have been a rout, and the Bears botched their chances to steal a win.
And yes, the Pac-12 refs were worse. At least 3 or 4 calls went against us that shouldn't have, including the decisive pick that shouldn't have been a pick. But put your life in the hands of Pac-12 refs, and you're gonna have a bad time. That's how it goes.
