I am finally a Golden Bear!
— Kennedy Emesibe (@UltimateEmesibe) January 5, 2014
Defensive end Kennedy Emesibe has committed to Cal. Unlike most of our current defensive line recruits, Emesibe is still in high school at Oak Hills in Hesperia (Ca.) and we’ll hopefully get four full years with him!
Here are the highlights courtesy of Hudl, and the ratings from the recruiting services.
- 247Sports: Three stars, 78th best strong side defensive end, 176th best recruit in California.
- Scout: Three stars, 126th best defensive end
- Rivals: Three stars
According to former CGB writer Marc Tausend, Emesibe put up 45 tackles, 12 sacks, blocked two kicks and got an interception for Oak Hills.
Emesibe clearly has strong athletic and academic credentials. Not only did he have offers from an SEC school like Mississippi State, but he also attracted Ivy League attention from Yale. Pac-12 offers also came from schools like Arizona, Arizona State and Washington State.
He joins junior college defensive tackles Trevor Kelly and David Davis and junior college defensive end Jonathon Johnson among those who have committed to the Bears. Kelly, Davis and Johnson are already signed and expect Emesibe to join them on Signing Day. Emesibe should offset the loss of Isadore Outing and give Cal a decent complement of players to help shore up our uncertain line talent.
