Golden Recruiting Wire: Aisea Tongilava visits, Marquis Ware visiting, & more visits!

Let's take a look to see how this weekend's officials went, and also take a look ahead at next weekend's.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Avi did a great post yesterday about how much the recruits enjoyed their visits.

Now let's see how much these official visits actually affected our recruiting prospects.

Aisea Tongilava apparently enjoyed himself tremendously, and has stated that he is going to decommit from SJSU and open his recruitment back up. He will likely now be choosing between us and UW.

That's great news, and is exactly what I want to be hearing after a big official visit weekend like this. Hopefully it's raining heavily in Washington when Aisea goes up there!

Vic Enwere

Coming into this weekend we knew Vic was one of our strongest commitments. Still, it's nice to hear that this loyal recruit enjoyed himself, and is doing his best to try and sway other potential Bears.

Looks like Marcus Griffin was also happy about how things went this weekend. As I've said before, he'd be a huge pick up if we can tempt him away from Wazzu and Mississippi State. I was initially skeptical on getting him but my confidence has risen.

Lastly, here's a little news on our new OT commit Dominic Granado. Looks like the guy was pretty stoked to get his Cal offer finally. Also seems like he's a lineman who brings a little bit of attitude to the table. I like it!

I'm sure more news regarding this weekend's recruits will be coming out as the week progresses. Fortunately, Cal fans still have next heavy visit weekend to look forward to next weekend.

Here's a list of the guys that are scheduled for next week.

MLB Jamardre Cobb- Bishop Mora Salesian

Highly rated Arizona commit who looks to be pretty solid on them. Hopefully we can sway him away.

MLB Chandler Leniu, St. John Bosco.

Talented Bosco product. I think he's basically choosing between us and Wazzu. Fresno State might also have a chance.

OLB Marquis Ware, Bishop Mora Salesian

Another highly rated Arizona commit. Looks like we're going after those boys! Florida State wants this guy so if we can get him, that would be big. We're in desperate need for some help at linebacker. I'd say our chances are pretty slim unless he falls in love with Berkeley. I wonder if he's a package deal with his teammate Jamardre.

RB Johnathan Vickers, North Florida Christian.

4 star recruit with impressive low 4.4 speed. It's exciting that we're even getting him out here. Oh, he's also committed to Florida State, making it even cooler! Chances are slim but who knows!

DE, Jaylen Johnson, Centennial

3 star Centennial product. We'll be competing with UW and USC to get him. Looks like we are one of his last visits lined up so that could bode well. He would definitely be a clutch late-game commit if we got him.

TE, David Lucero, Holtville.

6'5 tight end prospect. Would be really nice to get him with Rodgers leaving for the NFL. He's a Boise State commit so hopefully the coaching changes up there have maybe loosened his commitment.

OG, Troy Bacon, Oak Hills.

Under-the-radar recruit who has already committed to Boise State. Looks to be interested in Cal though, so hopefully this weekend will prompt him to decommit. I'd say it's a bit unlikely though since he committed to Boise just last week.

WR, Shay Fields, St. John Bosco.

The recent USC decommit, I'm excited about this guy and about the fact that we are continuing to cultivate that Bosco pipeline. Reminds me a lot of one of our current Bosco wideouts who also wears #1. This would be a sick grab if we can get him.

DE, Dale Pierson, Pasadena.

3 Star Juco player with a hand-full of small school offers. Looks like it's between us and Iowa State; my money's on us.

OLB, Alex Weber, Chiawana HS.

Very under-the-radar guy; I really couldn't find out much about him at all. I do like his tape a lot though, and the coaching staff has obviously seen something in him that they like enough to warrant giving him an offer.

That's all for this week. Fingers crossed that these visits go well. We definitely have some big name guys coming to town.
