2013 NFL Draft
Day Three (Rounds Four through Seven)
Radio City Music Hall, New York City
9:00 am PT (TV: ESPN, NFL Network)
Keenan Allen is a San Diego Charger. (3rd round, 76th overall selection.) Now that we have that out of the way, it is time to see where the rest of the draft-eligible California Golden Bears end up.
Today is the final day of the NFL Draft, with rounds four through seven on the agenda. Expect guys like Cal offensive lineman Brian Schwenke and cornerbacks Marc Anthony and Steve Williams to be drafted today. (In the opinion of yours truly, someone is absolutely stealing Williams today.)
Because this is the last day of the NFL Draft, and you will see the time honored tradition of "Mr. Irrelevant" -- the last player taken in the draft. One writer assembled his list of the Top 5 Most Relevant Mr. Irrelevants of All Time. I'll spoil the article here: there is a glaring omission. Not among the five is the late John Tuggle, the former Cal running back who was "Mr. Irrelevant" in 1983 drafted by the New York Giants with the final pick of that year's draft. Tuggle may not have had a long and productive NFL career, but he is most relevant when it comes to the human spirit. If you haven't watched the ESPN 30 for 30 short on John Tuggle, you are doing yourself a disservice: watch it now. And grab a Kleenex or two. If John Tuggle's story can bring Bill Parcells to tears, then most of us don't have a chance to keep the eyes dry.
This is your open thread for today's final day of the NFL Draft. Comment with your thoughts as the day goes along, especially as more of our Cal Bears are selected.
