Saturday saw the Bears lose yet another one run game (regressing to the mean from those 4 walk off wins to start the season at home?). Opportunity still exists, however, for the Bears to finally win another Pac-12 conference series with the rubber game today on the Pac-12 Networks.

Saturday's game turned into a slug fest as Cal starter Trevor Hildenberger gave up 2 runs in the top of the first (high correlation between giving up runs in the first inning and losing). Andrew Knapp hit a two run homer in the bottom of the first to tie things up for Cal. Bears then took the lead by stringing together 4 hits in the 2nd innings for 2 runs. A two run homer in the top of the 4th knotted things up for the Cougars before they eventually take a two run lead into the bottom of the 7th. Helped out by a Cougar error, the Bears again came from behind to tie things up by the end of the 7th. Cougars went ahead in the top of the 9th, but the Bears did manage to get two singles in the bottom of the 9th before the game ended when Devon Rodriguez grounded into a double play.
